Why Do You Seek The Living Among the Dead?

“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Luke 24:1-5

This passage takes place after Jesus has died and has been placed in the tomb as was customary. Two days later, those who followed him came looking for him in the tomb. They noticed the stone that covered the entrance was rolled away. As they went inside, two men in bright garments asked them a powerful question, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”
In Mark 5, we are told of how a possessed man dwelled in the tombs and not in his house. This shows us that when we give in to sin, it will surround us by death. Nothing in your life will prosper, your ministry will not flourish, your desires for God will fade off, etc. Jesus said he is “LIFE,” this means that sin takes you farther and farther away from Him, from Life, thus forcing you dwell in spiritual tombs and in valleys of death.
Here is the exciting thing!!! See, the enemy calls your sin and/or your past with the purpose to guilt you, to enslave you to it. However, when Jesus calls out your sin or past, it’s to set you free from it! That’s why in John 4, the Samaritan women was not embarrased when he called out her sinful lifestyle, instead, she got up and pulicly testified about what Jesus had done to her! He had set her FREE!
Now, there will be times when the past and the old sins will come looking for you after you have been set free. The thing is, that it will come looking for you where it was used to seeing you, amongs the tombs, amongs death, but because of the greatness of God, when the past comes looking around, be assured that there will be 2 men with bright garments standing there asking that sin and past, “Why do you seek the living (YOU) among the dead?!!!!”
When you give yourself to God, when you choose to surrender your life, your heart, and your will to Him, He will set you free and give you life! You will no longer dwell amongs the tombs! He is the way, the truth and the LIFE!

Words, Powerful Words

Image“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23

Jesus tells us that we believe and speak affects the natural world, including our finances. God has given us his Word so that we can understand theses spiritual laws that govern the universe.  There are spiritual laws just as there are natural laws.  When you work with these laws, they work for you.  When you work against God’s spiritual laws, they work against you.  When you speak negativity about your financial situations, you have what you say and believe.  Here is a very important spiritual law: YOU CAN HAVE WHAT YOU SAY:  With your words you can choose life or death, poverty or riches, sickness or health.  You may tithe (give 10% to the church), work hard and pray for prosperity every day, but if your words are negative and contrary to God’s word, you could stay mired in debt, struggling to make ends meet.  Words are powerful but God’s word is full of creative power.  When you agree with what God has said about you and SPEAK HIS WORD, your circumstances will begin to change and line up with his will for your life.

Ready for the Master

Image

2 Timothy 2 : 20-21

20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. 21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

God has many talented and gifted people he has called. Some people wonder why the Lord does not use them more. Maybe to lead a service or a special event at their church. This all relies on us. How pure do we maintain ourselves. How do we live our Christian life with Christ? “Many are chosen but few are called. Matthew 22:14” Just as Utensils we must be clean and pure. The Utensils being a tool to deliver the Food in this case The Word of God. As a dirty spoon or fork if we use it we might contaminate the Food. God does not want us to contaminate His Word. He is pure and so is His Word. We must keep ourselves clean and pure for his use at all times. For if we are not…the Lord will simply just choose another utensil that is ready to be used.

Forgiveness

Image

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” -Colossians 3:13

Forgiving others is not always an easy thing to do. But as children of God, it’s something that we must do. This scripture doesn’t say “Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you should try/if you want to forgive others.” It says “so you must forgive others.” Sometimes it can be easier, sometimes forgiving someone doesn’t take a lot out of you. But other times it can feel like an impossible thing to do. Maybe someone hurt you, offended you, betrayed you so bad that not even the word forgiveness itself walks across your mind. “They don’t deserve forgiveness.” or “If you do this to me, I will never forgive you.” or “That is unforgivable.” These are phrases we hear and even say ourselves. People hurt people. That’s just the honest truth of this world. And it can bring a lot of grief or pain. But let’s never forget that we have a God who is the source of strength, our strong tower, our comfort. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8) And to know Him is to know that we don’t have to live with our pain. He is the one who sets you free. He is the one changes your mourning into dance. He is the one who shows you the greatest love of all. And fills you with the greatest love of all. A love that brings peace and forgiveness.

Think of all the times that we’ve failed God or turned our backs to Him with our actions. And when we fell humbly before Him, he didn’t turn His back on us, He forgave. And even lifted us back up. Why? Because He love us. That’s how great His love is, so great that He forgives us. And don’t we want to be more like Him?

Free from fear

Image

God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

                                                                                                2 Tim. 1:17

When you and I feel powerless over our situations, God is able and willing to give us the power we lack. The courage to face a fear head on doesn’t come from within, it comes from God above. We need to trust God. We need to ask Him for the power of Faith. Ask Him for courage. When we fear what the future will hold for us, we need to talk to Him, for He will give us the answers to our worries. He wants us to have confidence, courage, and to trust in Him, for He can take away our fear and our timidness. Let your Faith be bigger than your fear!
