The Known God

Acts 17:23-2523 for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about. 24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.

Wow! I can imagine these men of Athens listening attentively, this was the ‘’new religion/philosophy’’ they all wanted to see what it was all about. Like the apostle Paul, we have to take advantage of these opportunities to preach the gospel of Christ, our Lords merciful news of salvation. All these men were very religious, they complied with all the decrees they had to carry out in order to please their ‘’gods’’. Everyone wanted to know about this Jesus Christ and what he had done. Some people thought it was just crazy talk, but they all wanted to hear what Paul had to say. There are millions of religious people in this world that have been brought up in a mechanical way of ‘’attending’’ church and haven’t realized truly who God is or can be for them. Our God is the giver of life and he sustains every single thing by his mighty power, so we must all give him the glory and praise that he is do. There is no other god besides our merciful savior Jesus Christ, and just like the apostle Paul explained it to these men of Athens, so we must explain how generous are God is to all those who need his salvation.

Prayer

Lord I pray that you give me the words and the genuine desire to speak on your behalf, let me tell the whole world how you saved me. So that all can see that you alone are God, you don’t need me Lord it is I who need you. Thank you for loving me and saving me Christ, I praise you Father. Give me the knowledge and wisdom to shine your light of salvation on this world full of darkness, amen.
