Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he be stumbleth.
Proverbs 24:17
We should not rejoice for the mistakes that our neighbors do. It doesn’t matter if our neighbor is our friend or our enemy. We shouldn’t be glad when they stumble. As followers of Christ we need to have a caring heart and full of merciness like he was when he was here in person. We only look down at a person if we are willing to stretch out our hand for them to get up.
As a church, as the body of Christ, we must have compassion for others, understanding that no matter who it is, Christ came and gave his life for them as well. This passage reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:6 when it speaks of LOVE, “Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.”
Nice reflection!
